Cake Pops!!! :)

Hi Everyone,

So I have been off sick with a 'cousin' or 'sister' virus of the dreaded mono!! The Dr said that it is very unfortunate, but I am lucky I do not have actual mono because of the long term effects it can have. I pretty much have the EXACT same symptoms of mono, it should hopefully just be for a shorter time!! Hope all of you are in good health and doing well! My weak immune system seems to have gotten the better of me AGAIN!
A few weeks ago, I tested out "cake pops" and made them for a few of the girls at work. They seem to be all the rage right now, so I figured I would give it a shot. I must say that these things are VERY time consuming! You first have to bake a regular cake and let it cool completely. Then crumble it and add icing until you are able to roll small balls. Let them sit in the fridge for several hours, then melt chocolate (I use Wilton melts that are white chocolate in different colours) Then put stick into rolled ball, dip in chocolate, throw on some edible decorations and stick into Styrofoam until dry. I made about 14 and bagged and put ribbon on them before deciding it was time for bed. I got a little over ambitious and thought I would make them for the whole office (meaning I'd have to make about 75+) and bought all the stuff to make that many, but after just over a dozen I was done! hahaha There is a whole other art to making them look like things as well, such as chicks, robots, characters, you name it!! Mine are just super duper basic, but there are some really artistic people that have made some AMAZING cake pops! My favorite website is Bakerella and I even bought her book to support her(I found it at my local Chapters)! When I first starting going through the book I was like wow, this will be a breeze, turns out not so much hahaha I now have A LOT more respect for her (and anyone else that makes these things) for putting such detail into them. I think with a lot of patience and practice, I will be able to concur most of the examples in her book. If you are thinking about making these, seriously check out her book, her photo examples and directions alone are awesome! I had googled and looked around before, but everyone's instructions were very different, and I love being able to refer to the books photos, and her basic way o making them! Here are my slightly embarrassing, but completely delicious cake pops;

Cake, but and starting to crumble

Milo hoping I would drop some, sorry dog not happening this time! haha

Rolling the balls and laying them on wax paper to go in the fridge for several hours

Purple melts! :)

AND HERE THEY ARE hahahaa!! I tried different kinds of candy (I know, I know NOT pretty! Haha)

Bagged and ready to have ribbon

Cherry chip vanilla cake & white chocolate frosting,

The most delicious colours

One of my Sisters flew in on thursday night so we have been hanging out, shopping & eating! Last night we went to a Vietnamese restaurant here that is a hidden gem, the food was fab as always! We were stuffed, had leftovers to take home, and the bill was cheap, my kinda place haha!
This morning I drove Jon to work and as I was driving back, the sky was just the most amazing colours. I didn't have my actual camera, but I am impressed by the pictures I was able to take with my iPhone, this little camera is top notch! I also played around with one of my apps hipstamatic, which is such a fun app! You take the pic like a regular camera, but it develops to the type of film/lens you choose, so you really have no idea how the pic is going to turn out until after the shot! Here are two hipstamatic prints and then on regular;

I want to paint my walls in these colours!!

Hi everyone, I haven't been updating much lately, same old story/excuse as I always busy! Haha I do have a Easter project I will be sharing, and some random photos I have been taking. I received a comment from user DogDish today to say to update frequently, thanks for the boost! I'm going to try harder to update even of it's just something small! As I write this right now I am sitting on an over-crowd subway train on my way home. Here is a pic of the dogs;

- Sleepy Mia in my blanket/nap all cozy! :)

It's hard to tell in this pic, but Milo fell asleep with his leg way up in the air leaned against the couch!

A pic of Milo taken with my hipstamatic app on my iPhone, makes it look old school

I had to get this magazine because Jon and I joked in the bookstore that this would be what Mia and Milo's babies would look like (my dogs are spayed and neutered, so really we'll never know haha)

Milo's favorite hang out when my best friend Sarah was here from Newfoundland

Out cold, Mia is in this pic too! Haha

There's way more pics of Milo than Mia because anyone that reads my blogs know Milo is a camera hog! Mia runs away, or is always to fast to get a pic!

Well that's all for now, getting ready for my stop, here is a
Pic from the train! Xo

Haha I LOVE road trips, even if we get caught in a snow storm! This pic above is of Sarah just before the USA boarder. Here are a few other randoms, I'll post more later!! Xoxo

Girls night

Hey everyone!! Last night my co-workers threw a party for another co-worker that's getting married. We went to the bar and danced the night away, it was really fun!! I made her a T-shirt and a pin for the event. I forgot to take a picture of the shirt once I put rhinestones all over it, but here is the almost finished product:

On the back I wrote BRIDE and then everyone could sign it. To make this tshirt I bought a plain fitted shirt from Michaels. Then I sewed on the candies to keep them secure. I wrote the wording with Sharpies and put a piece of cardboard in between the shirt, that way the marker won't bleed threw. It was a lot of fun to make! I'll have to find out this week if there is a pic of her with the shirt and the pin on that I can put up on here.

Also for valentines day, I ended up being very rushed for time, so I just made chocolate Lolli pops out of moulds and chocolate 'melts'. They are super easy to make, and only take 5-7 mins in the fridge. I made 25 for the girls at work.

They look orange from my iPhone camera, but they are pink!

I hope everyone had a great week, hopefully I'll be able to start catching up on here! One of my best friends flew in from Newfoundland, so I'll be spending a lot of time with her this next week!!

Messy melty chocolate,

 What has everyone been up to lately? I have been very busy with work, university classes, & the gym!! My classes are done in March, & I am so excited because then I feel like I can finally breathe for a while. I think, for now, if I decide to take any more classes, I will do it once I am done work. I am loving the new gym that opened by my place, and I have started training using an iPhone app (can you believe it, you can really do just about ANYTHING with those phones.) Its called 'Couch to 5K' and its suppose to be that you go from never being able to run, to being able to run 5 kilometers after just 9 weeks! I am on week two so far and loving it (even though it HAS been kicking my butt!) I think the app costs about $2, best 2 I've spent so far! hahah I also downloaded the 'Nike training' app, it shows videos, and a lady (automated) talks to you through your work-out they give you. I am doing ab training on that one, and I really like it because she reminds me to straighten my back, tell me when I only 30 secs left & she even gives you a 'breather period' to just take a 30-60 second break! I feel I have much more energy & sleep better since I started working out again.
  This weekend I have two all day classes, but I am also going to try & film a special Valentines day video!! I am getting a little behind in the filming, but I hope to catch up by next weekend!

running legs & lots of homework,
